Entomopathogenic nematodes

Against the larval stages of many insect pests.

Entomopathogenic mematodes (EPN) are benecial organisms that attack and kill a wide variety of insect pests. They actively locate and kill their target but are completely safe for humans and other organisms.

They are used against the Red Palm Weevil (Rhynchophorus ferrugineus), many cutworms infesting lawns and also against orchard pests such as the Codling Moth (Cydia pomonella) and the Red Belted Clearwing moth (Synanthedon myopaeformis).

EPN application is very simple and can be done with water canisters or ordinary sprayers. Depending on environmental conditions, target pest and substrate, surfactants and humectants (eg. xanthan) may be used to improve their effectiveness.

Effective: Entomopathogenic nematodes seek,  locate and destroy target pests.

Safe: Entomopathogenic nematodes:

  • Do not kill benecial insects
  • Are not harmful to plants, house-hold animals, humans or the environment.

Mode of action: immediately after their application nematodes wander on the substrate seeking a host insect (1). They enter the host’s body through its natural openings (2). Once inside they release their symbiotic bacteria killing thus the host (3). They feed and multiply inside the dead insect and eventually thousands of new nematodes leave the dead body (4) seeking a new host (1).
